Hefer Construction has been designing and manufacturing tunnels for more than 10 years. We erect tunnels of different sizes and for different purposes all over the country. We only use materials of very high quality and guarantee our products as well as our expertise. Hydroponic tunnels enable farmers to produce crops under controlled conditions. Regulating warming, cooling, irrigation and the application of plant nutrients by using the correct equipment, the farmer can maintain sustainable production throughout the year.

Greenhouse Models
Hobbyist

Our 2.4m x 4m polycarbonate greenhouse is a garden model for city dwellers. It is ideal for gardening as a hobby, for orchids, herbs and protecting plants against cold weather. This greenhouse is pre-manufactured with shelves to your specifications, inside and with one door. A wet wall with fan can also be installed as well as irrigation and lights if needed.

Farmer

For commercial farming the standard length is 10x30m, but the widths range between 4,5,6m and the lengths can be supplied in 6m lengths. The factory is one of the few local factories that install roof ventilation into tunnels , therefore it is possible to erect tunnels of more than 30m length. The standard height of the tunnels is 4,7m, but it can be adapted to a specific need. Width of the doors are 2m and can also be altered to suit the client's needs. All tunnels have adjustable ventilation panels both in front and at the back. Ventilation panels can also be installed at the side of the tunnels to fit the client's needs. Tunnels manufactured by Hefer Construction have openings that close very neatly and tightly. A part of the firm's effective and quality service, is that all articles including all irrigation equipment, seeds and plant nutrients can be supplied as an after service to the clients. Prices will be supplied on request. Tunnels can be covered with local or imported plastic, shade net or polycarbonate.

Multi-span

Our multi-span structures were developed from our trusted 10m X 30m tunnels, through bolting them together to form a multi-span reflecting the customer's desired size. Fully galvanized gutters with clamp rails are installed to insure a problem free junction between tunnels.

Projects

Hefer Construction has extensive experience in the erection of tunnels. We have erected tunnels in a variety of places and for various reasons.
Previous successful contracts are:

• Crocodile farming in Muldersdrift and Pontdrif.
• Fish, tomato, cucumber, flowers and cycads farming are some of our successful projects.
• Wreckers Demolition is using our tunnels to cover old trains while removing asbestos. This provides a safe working environment for their workers.
• Scuba diving and swimming schools use our tunnels to cover their pools for heating during winter times.
• We received the extensive Tabansu project in Harrysmith for over 38 tunnels and all accessories to the 7 sites in the North-West province. We also repaired the existing greenhouses.
• Goldfields mine tunnel project were also successfully completed by us.
• Jacod council for the disabled empowered 15 people by training them to acquire the necessary skills to manage the hydroponic farm at the center. Some workers earn an income from the project that supplements their government grant. Planting, pruning, harvesting and packaging have been taught to all who are capable, and will benefit them, should they leave this project and seek employment in a similar field in the future.

Seeds

We supply and distribute a variety of Mayford and Ferax seeds for various needs. We also supply coated seeds which can be planted directly in the plant bags to produce stronger and healthier plants to save labour and time. Plants planted this way produce fruit at the same time as seedlings planted the same day. Prices on request.

Irragation

We are agents and distributors of Netafim irrigation products and we equip any tunnel with the specialized irrigation system needed by the customer. Our range of products include pump stations, drippers, manifolds, filters, water tanks etc. Prices on request.

Fertilizers

We distribute fertilizers supplied by Ocean. We also arrange water tests if requested. We send your water samples in for analising and have a professional recommendation done for fertigation.

Chemicals

Various chemicals as well as expert advice are supplied by us to assist you to combat pests and diseases and other problems you may experience during the production process.

Courses

Hefer Construction has developed a practical hydroponic learning course. This is an intense learning school with 2 day, 1 week and 1 month courses where everything needed to know to run a successful hydroponic business is taught and practiced. An instruction manual has been developed with detailed information on the following:
